| Thanks to many of you, The Kokopelli
Journals, "A Southwest (mis)Adventure of Discovery,
Compassion, Empowerment... & MIschief" has enjoyed
an extremely well-received introduction to the Central Virginia
area, including inclusion in the highly acclaimed Virginia Festival
of the Book, a fine shared talk show with Carol M. Highsmith in
June of '06 at Pepper-Hamilton in DC, on Steve Mandell's "Tomorrow's
Business " (subject? Self-published books, of course!) followed
by two live Santa Fe NPR Interviews on KSFR's "The Journey
Home," hosted by Diego Mulligan, in September '06, about the
story behind the book. Charlee Channing, hostess for the Internet
talk show, “Spirits Evolving”, will interview Laura
in May of 2008. (Please see the Calendar for the exact time &
date.)
Laura thanks her many enthusiastic readers & supporters for
this warm welcome of her first book. She has had many fine readings,
signings, newspaper articles on her story, talks, TV & radio
interviews & looks forward to many more, continually expanding
her reading audience.
To contact Laura, please email her at wildwestwoman1@earthlink.net.
She looks forward to hearing from you with your questions, comments,
feedback & enthusiastic support! Please know she's busy, so
you may not hear from her immediately, but if you have a legitimate
question or comment, Laura will legitimately try her best to get
back to you.
Laura had planned – in the “quiet months of winter”
of ’08 to take a break from book signings & get back to
her studio, reorganizing it after five years of hiatus in writing,
publishing & then promoting The Kokopelli Journals.
She’s been eager to paint again & has a series of “3
dreams” she wants to capture, as well as a new series of surreal
naturalistic images burned in her mind that can’t wait to
find their way to the canvas. However, as we all know, “The
best laid plans of mice & men…” Life took over.
Her empty-nest refilled with the return of her son & his plans
to go to South Korea to teach youngsters English, upon his December
graduation from Virginia Commonwealth University. So she helped
him with all the documents he needed to travel globally; Jared left
at the end of February for Asia… And then her oldest daughter,
Skye, has returned home for an indefinite time, along with her worldly
belongings & two cats… Laura’s plans to quietly
return to creativity in the studio before book signings of 2008
begin were laid aside for motherly needs. Ah well…
Even inclusion in this year’s Virginia Festival of
the Book was reprioritized by the failing health of Peter’s
mother & father. It is with a heavy heart that we share with
you the death of Pete’s mother. In the wee hours after Easter
Sunday, Jean Gianniny quietly left us… Allan, her husband
of almost 60 years was at her side, almost to the end, despite his
Alzheimer’s disease, as he rallied & remembered their
lives. Committed love, on the deepest levels, was witnessed by our
family in watching these two say their goodbyes. In your passing,
Jean, we honor you:
Jean Claire Gianniny: May 23rd, 1926 –
March 24th, 2008
May you be gaily dancing your tai chi in the heavens above
now, freed from all your earthly pains, as your spirit rises, renewed…
Laura will begin her spring signings in mid-April. Please
scroll down to the Calendar/Events below to see where & when
she & Pete will be for upcoming events this spring & summer
& into the fall & holiday season. Please do come
say heh at any of these fine celebrations!
